WHO WE ARE:
About Connected to Lead

In the Fall of 2018, our Founder, Jen Harris, was developing a nonprofit focused on youth leadership development. On March 7th, 2019, God called Jen to create a network for young professionals focused on leadership development and developing meaningful relationships. She applied as an individual for the California Mental Health Service Authority’s grant for $5000. Jen was awarded the grant and birthed Connected to Lead. In June 2019, Jen coordinated three full day sessions with professionals ages 18-50+ from Los Angeles County. There were workshops focused on leadership development, goal setting, yoga, telling your story, and more by Jen and other presenters.  The evaluation responses were extremely positive, which led Jen to restructure the original idea for her nonprofits programming to include people of all ages.

Our programs are designed to develop resilient leaders who are connected to resources and make an impact.

Leadership Spotlight

I learned how to get out of my comfort zone. This program really helped me learn what I need to know about being a leader. It definitely helped me to get out of that mindset of self-doubt and fear – to go ahead and take positive risks. It helped me with my growth and career-wise as well.

Alyssa S. | Lead NOW 2020 Participant

Leadership is a funny thing. True leadership has nothing to do with rank, position, or wealth. Leadership is about doing something for others, putting others before yourself. It’s about finding your life purpose. And that hopefully that purpose involves serving others in whatever way it takes to make them better, make their life better. Leadership should be the hardest yet most rewarding thing you’ll ever do.

Chief Mike Saffell | Lead NOW 2020 Speaker

I believe what we’ve invested in – our youth. It’s not in vain. It doesn’t matter what it is – time or money because our youth is our future. When we can help them build a strong foundation to be a leader that will help them to help others to be a leader too.

The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development. There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders and continually develops them.
